Challenge

SoSafe is the leading nex-gen security platform, disrupting the security awareness status quo. As one of the fastest-growing scale-ups in Europe, SoSafe has been experiencing rapid growth in its hybrid-remote workplace.  

Thies Wollesen, Strategy Consultant to the CEO’s office, joined SoSafe at the beginning of their hyper-growth stage. SoSafe needed better consistency and governance in its strategy execution framework — working through strategic priorities and plans was seamless, but executing its strategy hardest part.

SoSafe is flush with high-performing contributors focused on their work, but the lack of transparency, alignment, and cross-team collaboration meant they had little understanding of how their work contributed to the larger picture. They needed a way to formalize their execution processes, while not snuffing their entrepreneurship culture by prescribing tasks.  

Solution

The leadership team leveraged OKRs to prioritize work and cross-functional collaboration — they went with Quantive Results to align their team and encourage contributors to take ownership of goal attainment.

The stakes were high in getting strategy execution OKRs right the first time. Since software was an essential part of that success, their buying decision had two priorities:  

  1. How much overhead pain could be avoided
  2. How fast they could see the value from OKR software

Their first year using Quantive Results was about setting the foundation before scaling. “Execution is everything — strategy is nothing without it,” Thies stated. They wanted to ensure the platform empowered strategic planning days that harmoniously blended into the execution of those plans.

SoSafe knew part of this was progress reporting, so they worked with Quantive's Technical Success team to customize dashboards that reflected leadership’s priorities. They could review company OKRs on a bi-weekly cadence, then find where OKRs could be ingrained into existing processes.

"I'm a big proponent of needing to demonstrate value to managers. I need to show the person this generates value, and they can make it their priority. When you show them... that it makes their life easier, and it makes their reporting easier, that’s a win,” Thies expressed.  

Outcomes

Building this strong foundation upfront helped SoSafe champions lead by example with increased transparency, which resulted in a powerful trickle-down effect on OKR adoption. Individual contributors had a clear understanding of the company's goals and how their work contributed to achieving them.  

Emphasizing outcomes over outputs ensured that everyone was aligned on what it meant to accomplish a goal. One impressive outcome seen by SoSafe in the last QBR was alignment percentage — average is 43%, above 85% is amazing, but their 100% OKR alignment made their success even more staggering.
