OKRs and performance management are vital to how a business operates and impact employee retention, job satisfaction, and organizational performance. However, there is a delicate, and often controversial, line when it comes to using OKRs as part of the performance management process, especially when compensation is involved.

While OKRs can improve accountability and visibility, fully combining them with performance management can deter progress and encourage the wrong behaviors. But this doesn't mean you should entirely forgo OKRs during performance management.

In this learning series, we'll discuss how to align OKRs and performance management to ensure they serve organizational needs. We'll provide you with a better understanding of the differences between OKRs and performance management and how to align OKRs with the four stages of the performance management cycle, including the rewarding stage which involves compensating employees based on how well they’ve achieved their goals.
